Afterschool Art with Ginger Williams Cook

10 classes, beginning Tuesday, February 4th - $250.00

New to MCM but not new to teaching art we are excited to be partnering with a friend of MCM for many years. Serving as a visiting artist and a featured artist for our development fundraising efforts we are excited to have her offering classes this school year. Class projects will progress week to week to produce visual works of art to treasured for years to come.

Ginger Williams Cook is a painter, published illustrator, and arts educator in Jackson, Mississippi. She cultivated a passion for teaching art to children as the former Studio Programs Coordinator and Master Teaching Artist at the Mississippi Museum of Art. She won the Outstanding Museum Art Educator of the Year award in 2012 from MAEA. During her role at the museum, she taught after-school art at Operation Shoestring and Brown Elementary. Ginger also completed two Ask For More Arts residencies at Galloway and G.N. Smith Elementary Schools, culminating in an art exhibit for the families and community within JPS.

Her work has been featured in international art exhibitions, publications, and brand packaging. Ginger is developing a series of paintings for an upcoming solo exhibition at the Ferrara Showman Gallery in New Orleans that opens in January 2025. She is excited to work with MCM to offer an after-school art program for the upcoming year.

Class is limited to 12 spots, if class fills quickly we can open a 2nd class!
